Citations & Enforcement
Issuance of parking citations by SDSU is granted through the California Vehicle Code (CVC) 21113(a) and the California Code of Regulations. Citations are legal and if not paid will result in your vehicle being immobilized, towed or placing a hold on your vehicle registration. The CVC authorizes SDSU to enforce regulations in conjunction with the requirements of the Code of Regulations.
The burden of proof is required by the appellant, not Parking & Transportation Services. Citations issued due to lack of knowledge, not seeing information, or receiving information from a source other than Parking & Transportation Services are not grounds for dismissal.
Vehicles that have been issued 5 or more unpaid parking violations that are past due (21 days or more) are in violation of CVC 22651 and may be immobilized with a Barnacle device or boot. SDSU may initiate vehicle towing if parking violation fines are not paid. Additional details can be found here.
SDSU parking permits are virtual and license plate reader software is utilized for enforcement.
